One of the most exciting and interesting places that I have ever been to...it was a pure nostalgic revisit this time around and that too with my cousin...(we both have been to JRB for the first time way back 12 years ago...and many visits later on).
The place taught great lifetime lessons...with them being even more relevant now for all the tech deals and google scanvenging...;)
....there are hidden gems every where around and u just need the patience to pick urs. U just may find anything from a Pin to a Plane. (u wudnt believe what I got for myself!....two sets of new german made Mont Blanc cuff links, a new (i mean it) pair of rimless Cartier gold frame glasses...and 4 original moghul miniature paintings...i yet have to determine their time period....all at dream prices)
..some of the sellers are so experienced that its a treat to just watch them, talk and even haggle!. This old lady who sells old/antique watches knows the history about Rolex, Titoni, Tissot, Camy...and what not of all the great watchmakers......the location of the business....a roadside pavement.

Any of you who visit Hyderabad, make it a point to visit the place...have a blast at this native old traditional flea market. (Timings: Thursdays - Morning 5AM to Noon 12PM)
Another location: at CHARMINAR on Sundays.

Hey Bob,

Yes, its as safe and secure to go there and is located at one of the busiest places in the city (the older part of Hyderabad city. Closest landmarks: Osmania General Hospital, Afzalgunj).

Only the case to be safer on our side is not flaut with any expensive dressing/accessories, even more the case to have an advantage of being a common man. The vendors may at times judge a person by his dressing/looks and quote a price accordingly. So, the more casual you are, the better it is and also for doing a good haggle.

You can definitely do all the haggling that you can. Its completely ok to ask the most absurd prices. Worst case would be that the guy would give you a crazy look, but that ok!...just befriend them and make a deal.

Most of the vendors selling the stuff, buy them as scrap and in weight, so they may not know the real worth of the item. Yet again, there are many who are churned professionals who exactly know what they sell.

There is good lot of antique stuff that you find at some of the vendors. Its more upon your taste of what you may want to get.

I dont know the possibility of finding a working macbook! there, but you can definitely find a spare or two related to a macbook.

Its funny how you can find old/fake patek philippe, breitling, rolex, omega watches. But yet, with all that in place, you may even end up finding an orginal. Its upon you to discriminate.

Cash is more based on the kind of stuff that you are looking to buy.
Anything around 3K to 5K INR (split the cash and have them located in different pockets of your pants...just to be on the safe side;)...) will buy you a good lot of stuff. But you 'can' buy things that could be anything as low as 1 INR as well.

Try to be there by around 8:30AM to 9AM and you will have yourself around couple of hours to checkout the place.
